Kerrie Howland is a Clarence Valley artist and currently works from the her studio at Yamba Art Space. Kerrie works are abstract and expressive in style. She explores contemporary mixed media drawing and painting techniques with a variety of mediums on paper and canvas. Her personal connections with the beautiful environment she grew up in at Iluka NSW is an ongoing inspiration. Her preliminary art practice includes exploring natural environments, collecting and documenting elements through drawings and photography. As a mother of three children she also began to draw the figure in the landscape e.g. children playing, humans exploring. In Kerrie’s work the human figure is often symbolic and metaphorical as it represents the human condition and a greater narrative referencing the changing and evolving relationship between humans, nature and the elements of the natural world which shape our daily existence and future.
