Kerrie Howland is a Clarence Valley artist and currently works from the studio at Yamba Art Space. Kerrie’s art works are abstract and expressive in style. She explores contemporary mixed media drawing and painting techniques with a variety of mediums on paper and canvas.

Personal connections, metaphorical stories and a continued response to the relationship between human kind and the natural environment informs Kerrie’s subjects and creative processes. Exploring natural environments, collecting and documenting elements/moments through mixed media drawing techniques and photography.

As a mother of three children and often outdoors with her family Kerrie’s experiences, relationships and memories become the figures in her abstracted landscapes e.g. figures playing, exploring and engaging.

The human figure is often symbolic and metaphorical as it represents a greater narrative, referencing the changing and evolving relationship between humans, nature and the elements of the natural world which shape our daily existence and future.
